Windows XP was launched in October 2001 and it became one of the most popular operating systems on a worldwide scale.

Part of its success relied in its appealing interface, since it was different than the ones that had been available before its launch.

In between these service packs, individual updates were also published, such as Update for Windows XP Service Pack 2 (KB884020) - it goes without saying that in order to install this update, one first needs to have SP2 on their computer, otherwise the installation fails.

The reason why this update was so important that it warranted a separate release was that it dealt with connection issues.

The most important upgrade for Windows XP: Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP-2) provides an enhanced security infrastructure that defends against viruses, worms and hackers, along with increased manageability and control for IT professionals and an improved experience for users.

Windows XP Service Pack 2 is licensed as Shareware for the Windows operating system / platform from components and can be used as a free trial until the trial period ends (after an unspecified number of days).

Full download (aka Network Installation Package) of Service Pack 3 for Windows XP has been removed from Microsoft Download Center, but you can get the file from Major Geeks. Have a nice glass of juice and do some exercise while the Service Pack is being installed.

When it gets to the point where you see "Finishing installation" screen, it will still take several minutes to complete.

After successful completion, click to restart your computer.

After restarting, your computer will do some post-install configuration and you will see screens like this.
